Wow, a week ago I was attending the graduation of my underclassmen from high school, and I had just gotten back from college and my room was a mess.
Fast forward 7+ days from the time of departure from school, and my room is still a mess. Not that I haven't worked on cleaning it up, but its current status still leaves a lot to be desired. (Seeing some of my actual desk would be a nice start...this seems to be a recurring problem with me. Hm.)
I did get my FREESTYLE shirt in the mail, though! It's got a couple of nice details that I really like (but it's not like I wasn't going to like a shirt with a design by Ohno on it, hah.) Annnd I also caved and bought the "Arashi is Alive!" photobook that doesn't come out until September. It better have some good pictures of Nino's birthday and Ohmiya's coming out. ♥
It's got the kanji for "Satoshi" sewn in where most shirt care instruction and brand name tags are, haha. And there's also a neat little strip spelling out "Satoshi" in English on the bottom front of the shirt. And of course, the gigantic composite sea horse on back! ♥ I wonder if Jun wears this shirt in small or medium, because medium actually fits me comfortably, and he's probably half my size. =_=;;
Since I was laboriously folding clothes (and tooling around on a new header for LJ) until 4 am, I had about 4 hours of sleep before mom and I dashed off to my aunt's place so we could watch movies with my cousin while mom's car got its semi-regular check up. We ended up watching "Indiana Jones" and then "Kung Fu Panda". "Indy" was alright - sort of campy like typical old-school Hollywood action movies, and with Harrison Ford delivering his lines with a mix of weariness (I guess to show Indy's age) and jadedness, like he couldn't believe he was making another Indiana Jones movie. Though Shia LeBeouf was a nice change from the regular female love interest tagalongs and bumbling male sidekicks, because his character was actually somewhat capable and intelligent (as well as funny, which always helps).
"Kung Fu Panda" got rave reviews from friends who had gone, but I didn't want to expect too much. I'll just say I did enjoy it very thoroughly (and was surprised to know Jackie Chan and Angelina Jolie provided voices, even though someone's probably already told me this fact) and would definitely consider buying the DVD. (It was also funny to find out that my aunt, mom, and cousin, all of whom are native Mandarin speakers, kept hearing "Seafood" instead of "Shi-fu", the name of the panda's teacher.) It helps that you don't think "Jack Black" or "Angelina Jolie" when you hear the characters' voices, so you can enjoy the characters (and the way they're animated) for just who they are and not who they're voiced by.
After the movies, I bought myself a pair of plain black Reef flip-flops (it took a very long time to find flip-flops that were comfortable enough but not $80 a pair) and happened to also be looking for plaid-patterned shorts, but I was pretty horrified to see that most shorts started at $35 or so a pair. Have shorts always cost that much, or have I been out of the shopping loop for a while? Well, actually, I don't think I've ever been IN the loop
The good thing about making the drive all the way to my aunt's is that she lives near good Korean and Japanese restaurants. So for dinner we ate at a market food court that had sashimi don, spicy tuna sushi roll, dobokgi (I'm not sure how to romanize that, but it's Korean spicy rice cakes), and Korean-brand red bean popsicles. And my aunt made a side dish using fried tiny fish (anchovies?), which I lovelovelove. Last time I visited she made spicy preserved squid, SO GOOD. ♥ I refused to let my mom take any of it to work in her lunch, haha.
Not to set the bar too high, but I think I should have the room cleaned by Sunday. Or at least, you know, not have stuff in messy clutters all over the place. I think this is possible. Maybe.
