Below you will find 10 Classic Rock and Roll bands or artists. They are seen as influential and have extensive catalogs of music attributed to them. They are also so well know I would hazard just about everyone knows several songs by each of them. Please tell us your favorite song by each artist. Then feel free to add an eleventh Classic Rock and Roll artist or band and your favorite song by that artist.

The Beatles

I can't answer "the last half of Abbey Road", since that's several songs, so I'll say "A Day In The Life".  Yes, it's depressing and not a little bit odd, but there's something eternally awe-inspiring about the composition.

David Bowie

"Space Oddity", if only because it's so out there.  Or "Modern Love".

Eric Clapton (in any of his bands or solo work)

Not a big Clapton fan, but I've always really liked "White Room" by Cream.  Or the end of "Layla".

Bob Dylan

"Like a Rolling Stone".  The imagery is so strong and the moral so powerful.

The Grateful Dead

Sorry.  Can't do this one.  Don't like the Dead.

Led Zeppelin

"Kashmir".  Bombastic, overlong and pretentious.  Everything that makes Led Zeppelin great, all in one song.

Pink Floyd

I'm tempted to answer "Be Careful With That Axe, Eugene" or "Several Species of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict" because they're just such great titles (the former was used as the name of an IM basketball team I played on in college), but I'll go with "Dogs", from Animals.

The Rolling Stones

"You Can't Always Get What You Want".  I love everything about this song.

The Who

"Won't Get Fooled Again".  Impossible to not air-drum (or more often, steering-wheel drum) to the solo.  Plus, it's fun to sing along to, and it's got a cool message.

Queen

It varies from listen to listen, but I'm going to throw a dart at the usual suspects and pick one for today.  "You And I" from A Day at the Races.  A perfect pop song.

and, picking an artist at random from my iTunes library, I'll add...

Creedence Clearwater Revival

I grew up on CCR, so it's hard to choose just one.  It really depends on my mood.  Good days, I'd answer "Fortunate Son", whose co-opting by Wrangler for commercial purposes ensures that I will never purchase any of their products.  Worse days, I'd answer, "Who'll Stop The Rain?"
