Four years ago I went through a rather extensive surgery on my left shoulder to repair tissue and to tighten up ligaments and such. The recovery time was around 6 months with therapy and massage. Not something I would want anyone to go through on a regular basis... rather I should say "Not something I would want to go through again."
Well... two months ago, Jeff and I were wrestling around just being stupid - the male thing to do I suppose. I went to go place my right arm around his right shoulder when at the exact same moment I slipped at the same time he was coming up. My shoulder caught just right, but I figure I had just 'twinged' my shoulder this time... well, I went to the specialist last week to have it scoped. Today, my doctor called and said that I am now the proud owner of not one, but two slight tears in the labrum. I am figuring that I can put off surgery until August, that way the financial strain will not be as big as if I would do it now. This really blows big time. At the moment I am not a 'happy camper' to say the least. I have been working with the shoulder trying to figure out how to take some of the pressure off while doing massage, so far I am adjusting pretty well. I have been getting therapy several times a week with massage, acupuncture and heat therapies... that is about all I can do at the moment. Who knows, maybe between now and then I will be healed fully? Keeping my fingers crossed that that is the way it will be.
The last two days have been overcast and raining, so been stuck inside for the most part (outside of doing massage). Taking Jeff to the airport tomorrow so that he can start getting situated out in LA, he will be back on the 29th. Maybe by then his place will have sold, so then all he would have to do is get that U-Haul and head out. I offered to take the drive out there with him, to give him some breaks from behind the wheel. Probably stop off to see his parents and his grandparents down in Havasu - should be fun. Might stay down there in LA for a few days so that I can see my foster brother in San Diego, been awhile since I last saw him.
Time to go cook some dinner.
