*plonks down with some spiced chai and crumb cake* Morning, all! I've been pondering something of late, and was wondering if you writers of multi-chaptered works could enlighten a oneshot maven: what dictates chapter postings, the story or the schedule?

I'm especially thinking of you insane dedicated souls who post chapters DAILY, or every other ( Read more... )

In my experience, it was based on the story.

I figure 1000ish words was like the third bowl of porrige: not too short, not too long.

But, I also never asked anyone.

As for the near-daily posting schedule... I'm a comment whore, so I needed the love and wanted the daily satisfaction of entertaining There wasn't much fic being posted, and it was hard enough to only post once a day.

Also, the rules at tinman_fic clearly state no spamming. Of course, as I was one of the few posting, it was really still spamming :)

I also had about 50 'chapters' ready to go.

Sadly, I have since caught up to myself and haven't had the time to sit and type/write, so the ideas just swirl and people wait. Really, I just wanted to see if others would write something for a change - worked for a bit ;)

The other problem is that there are times when the Papaybunny only goes so far and you find yourself needing to connect A and D

Which is why there have been no further adventures of the Cain boys. And, of course, when a joke gets out of hand. *again, points to Jareth*

I really want to revisit the Van Helsing cross, simply because I have the PERFECT line for DG... but I have no idea how to get them all to a point where she can say that line.

*grumbles at Steve*
