The weather has been great lately, giving us some nice chances to be outside and enjoy the city.
Some highlights:
The local Dairy Queen has fucking BUTTERSCOTCH dip for cones. I haven't been able to get it in Michigan or Ohio since 2001. Hell yes.
We hit a drive-in theater to see Spiderman 3. The drive-in was great quality, not overcrowded, and clean. Unfortunately, Spiderman was crap and us seeing it in a drive-in was one of the few things that redeemed it. That's another nice thing about watching a movie from your car- when it blows, you can make fun of the terrible dialogue all you want without disturbing anybody.
Made some quick, easy money at a wedding (hundred dollar bills, hooray!) and then spent some of it on a copper fire pit. There WILL be marshmallow roasting. Yep.
Rollerbladed around a bit. It's amazing how you can go less than a half mile around here and feel like you've seen a whole city- there's just so MUCH cool shit everywhere, it's great. While there's so many shops to peek in, it still kinda feels like the suburbs in the sense that the sidewalks are all completely shaded by big, beautiful trees.
While rollerblading, we stumbled on another huge park we didn't know about. There was a christian rap group performing in one section, which was... interesting. This makes at least 3 giant parks within a half mile of our house, one of them with a pool and another with a greenhouse. All of them have classes and workshops and are pet-friendly.
So yeah, this place is great. I'm a little bummed I still don't really know anybody out here and I am tired of being alone during the daytime, but at least I have cuddly animals. Oh! One thing, though, our eldest cat, Emaline, has begun snoring. Since she usually sleeps in my arms at night, she's also been keeping me up on occasion. I just can't wake her, she's too cute!
Note: old picture, we no longer have carpet, thank god.
