I've never seen a Middle Eastern actor play Aladdin. It's always either a white guy with a black wig or a Hispanic guy. The Naveens have always been Middle Eastern tho.
I don't know if any of the actors in the current production are Middle Eastern. The majority of the cast is non-white, though, which is kind of surprising for Disney IMO.
I saw a test version of Aladdin at the Muny (U. S.'s largest outdoor theatre) in St. Louis in 2012, and it was not very good. The Muny does fantastic productions every summer, but I don't think Aladdin lends itself to the stage very well---take away the animation, and a lot of the charm is lost. And I say this as someone who adores the Disney film.
I'd love to see a stage version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. That's much more theatrical---a Broadway play waiting to happen.
