Uhh.. this just makes The Rock look worse?

Just because his behavior on set wasn’t the worst Evans has seen doesn’t mean that he wasn’t a giant dick. And telling people he gave money to the crew? Tacky. Not only because it’s being brought up as part of a defense, but a reminder that this rich man can just freely give away such a large amount of money to the underpaid (because you’ll only catch me holding someone else’s piss bottle in hell) crew.

Evans is vying for that Worst Chris spot, I see.

I read the original article just now and the 100k giveaway wasn’t done in a benevolent benefactor way. It was a weekly raffle and he would bump the pot up sometimes.

On many movie productions there is something called Five-Dollar Fridays, in which the cast and crew buy raffle tickets and at the end of the day they pull someone’s name out. Actors are not generally in the running, but they are expected to contribute. Anyway there was a day-“I mean Dwayne did it all the time,” Evans says, “but there was one day, and I’m really not exaggerating about this. I forget what the number was. The pot was up to four or five grand or something, and before they pulled the name out, Dwayne said, ‘What’s the pot at right now?’ And someone said, ‘I don’t know, four grand.’ And he said, ‘Let’s call it 20.’ And they pulled out a name and whoever won was losing it

🤮 I didn’t think it was, but this is somehow even worse than what I imagined. “Look at all these little people going nuts for money! Let’s entertain ourselves more!”

People got money, so whatever. But, wtf is wrong with Evans to think this was a nice lil tale to be shared?

Just because he wasn't necessarily doing it for altruistic reasons doesn't take away the difference it made to people's lives.
