I’ve heard a few people here say conclave was pretty good!!

Lol I’m guessing the strikes from last year really messed everything up!!

[Spoiler (click to open)]I’ve seen a looot of people debate about her character. From some saying she’s well-written enough to others making similar points to you. Personally I don’t know I guess she’s pretty simple and flat. I think Sean plays it straightforward here. She’s just a working-class stripper tired of the same mundane routine and puts all eggs in the basket when she gets with Vanya. So yeah I agree with people that say why would you get involved with an immature brat in the way she did. I heard some people say that’s her problem is that all she knows is transaction which is why she gets emotional at the end cause Igor is not really demanding something in return.

But the more I think about it, it feels like 2 different Anoras in a way. Cause Anora in the first half is fully aware she got a lucky customer and nothing is free, it’s quid pro quo. Even when he says to get married she immediately says 3 karats and he ups it to 4. And even then she does see his stunted growth and typical rich kid attitude. But then when the goons arrive, she’s acting like a wifey lol. I don’t think she was in love with him truly obvs, but she liked the escape he represented but it doesn’t make sense how anyone in that position would’ve thought it would’ve lasted especially when he did tell her his dad was a Russian Oligarch lol!!

Her giving up with his mom threatens her is pretty realistic lol. What’s she gonna fight with? They’re wealthy Russian billionaires who traveled from Russia to NY to Las Vegas in a few hours just to annul their son’s sneaky marriage cause they know he’s a lazy bum who doesn’t wanna work…it’s just another Tuesday for them. While she’s a working class stripper from Brooklyn. That’s why she trashes the mom in Vegas before leaving cause that’s all she’s got. She can fight goons breaking and entering but good luck with wealthy billionaires who could make her disappear. So I don’t see it as OOC.

At least she got some money and the ring so she could do with that (lol I’m greedy I would’ve kept the black fur coat !!).

Again because of the overhype I am like…okay what is the central message here? How is this movie different from other similar plots? Like it’s a fine decent movie but not for all this praise. It feels like a movie I could watch on a weekend on TV. Like at least last year Anatomy of a Fall lived up to the hype and performance but this year??? Ehhhh

Lol I saw a few people comparing The Brutalist to epics from Coppola and PTA…well let’s see. I’m curious to see Emilia Perez cause that looks fun at least.
