November 10, 2024 There were no major studio releases this weekend, likely because of the US election, and Venom: The Last Dance took advantage of the lull, taking in $16.2 million for first place at the box office in its third weekend of release.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and the Hugh Grant-starring Heretic took second and third at the box office with $11.1 million and $11 million dollars, respectively. It's certainly possible the actual numbers could change that order once they come in, but either way, both were critically praised new releases. TBCPE marks a rare W for Lionsgate, while A24 has to be happy about such a big weekend for a film that isn't a prequel, sequel, adaptation or reboot.
In fourth, The Wild Robot took in $6.6 millon, while Smile 2 scared up $5 million for fifth place. Conclave took in $4.1 million for sixth place, while the Robert Zemeckis-directed Here dropped to 8th place in its second weekend with only $2.4 million.
