i also wouldve put britney in the top 5 but i need a rubric to see how they assess their pop stars

bey sounds like a perfect number one, she has been reigning since the early 2000s (as a solo artist)

Lol 8 years is not ”much earlier” and late 90s is still 20th century.

much earlier in the decade obviously. only one of britney's albums was released in the 90s while the rest were in the 2000s/2010s. whereas almost half of mariah's albums were released in the 90s. i'd say that's a pretty big difference when considering which century you'd associate each with
