It’s just a perfect example of how some men aren’t even trying to be malicious but have very little concept of how much women have to think about their safety at all times. The silence was so loud lol

The cluelessness and the refusal to listen to women infuriates me. Just read. We share our stories all over the internet. It’s not hard to find them.

Even when men are trying to be understanding, they still don't fully get it. The example that has stayed with me for over 30 years is the pilot episode of My So-Called Life. Brian sees Angela get out of a police car. When he asks her what happened, she doesn't want to talk about it. She finally tells him that these guys started hitting on her and Rayanne. Brian said, "What? Like sexual harassment?" Angela says matter of factly, "Like guys."

I was about to say “that show was ahead of its time” when really it came out when it did so we could learn from it. I want a behind the scenes of the writers’ room.

YouTuber Matt Baume did a good retrospective on the character Rickie from My So-Called Life. It's not exactly what you're looking for but there is a lot of discussion about the show's creators.

Honestly, I think men who aren’t trying to be malicious but still have no idea genuinely just do not care. Like, they don’t care at all until it affects someone they know and even then it’s a coin toss whether they’ll ask if you’re exaggerating or overreacting or assuming the worst of a strange man. Like, my guy, you’re supposed my friend/boyfriend; how are you still automatically trying to defend a STRANGER who made me feel unsafe ( ... )
