It's interesting to me that Lisa couldn't see that she was not being a great mother while she was in the depths of her addiction.

Yeah, I’m reading this and thinking “she thought her one good trait was that she was a great mom?”.

I feel bad for Riley. It seemed obvious that Ben was the favourite and Riley was the one who would get piled on.

Forced to be an adult before she really should have. I mean, even in her mother's untimely death, look at the responsibility she left Riley with. Obviously, we will never know how Riley feels about this unless she decides to be open about it so I won't project onto her, but I hope she is working through the difficulties with someone.

It seems like the intention was Riley and Benjamin running the estate together, and unfortunately Lisa never updated the will to help out Riley when Benjamin passed. And I'm sure Lisa never thought her own mother would outlive her, challenge her will and make things far more difficult for Riley. A whole mess.

crazy that she could easily get a bariatric surgery

honestly i'm not surprise how easy it is for her to get bariatric surgery. i seen patients who just had a baby, want to get the surgery and no one bats an eye. its crazy.

im sure she paid for it out of pocket so its probably easy to find someone to do it.

It is appalling how many incredible serious and risky operations are just treated as pay for play to the rich and/or famous.

Bariatric surgery is a minefield even for patients with extreme weight loss needs. Lisa Marie was nowhere even close to the size that should have made it an option. Doing it when she was healthy, never mind when she was clearly having a lot of physical side effects from drug addiction, is just criminal to me.

Thanks for these OP! I’ve luckily never had to deal with anyone being addict in my life, but damn, it seems awful. I’ve always liked Riley, she seems so strong dealing with all of this, watching this happen to your Mom and brother as the only one sober must have been insanely difficult.

Reading these summaries, I suppose if you believe in reincarnation it would seem like Ben perhaps could have been Elvis in his previous life.

You're welcome!

I remember a Riley interview where she talked about her brother accompanying their mom somewhere and a lot of Elvis' friends and associates showed up and he had to deal with these people touching him and getting emotional over how much he resembled Elvis in looks/demeanor and she kind of teased him and he responded something like "well, mom's happy." It's a cute story about the family friends being weird and annoying but in hindsight... 😕

Ive thought that even before Ben died! I have a feeling Lisa thought that as well and that is why she said her dreams of Elvis visiting her stopped when Ben was born.

Riley says Lisa thought honesty about her addiction was the virtue - not actually changing it.
oof

80 pills a day oh my god

god riley was really just parenting lisa and everyone else, poor girl

addiction is such a shit disease, and the things we'll do because of loneliness and self-loathing are so terrible :( i wish no one felt this kind of pain

As an addict, Riley's observation cut me. She is so perceptive. As an addict myself, I know that in the midst of my addictions, when I wasn't ready to change but wanted to, I felt like honesty about my problems was enough. Riley has been through so much, and I'm stunned by her wisdom tbh.

that picture with riley and the twins is so sad, they're the only ones looking like they're actually there
