It's interesting to me that Lisa couldn't see that she was not being a great mother while she was in the depths of her addiction.

Yeah, I’m reading this and thinking “she thought her one good trait was that she was a great mom?”.

I feel bad for Riley. It seemed obvious that Ben was the favourite and Riley was the one who would get piled on.

Forced to be an adult before she really should have. I mean, even in her mother's untimely death, look at the responsibility she left Riley with. Obviously, we will never know how Riley feels about this unless she decides to be open about it so I won't project onto her, but I hope she is working through the difficulties with someone.

It seems like the intention was Riley and Benjamin running the estate together, and unfortunately Lisa never updated the will to help out Riley when Benjamin passed. And I'm sure Lisa never thought her own mother would outlive her, challenge her will and make things far more difficult for Riley. A whole mess.

The part about Priscilla outliving her was somewhat obvious though.

Idk Priscilla said at the funeral that Lisa knew she wouldnt live long. And Cilla's side lives FOREVER lol her mom and dad just died a few years ago!

It's interesting me she ever thought she was a great mother and that was what she prided herself on. Ben especially seems like he was totally enmeshed with Lisa Marie. Thinking it was his job to just stick by her and save her no matter what? Yiiiikes.

The whole family sounds like a bunch of enmeshed functioning alcoholics. Riley having some stability outside the family (friends and then her modelling and acting career) saved her in so many ways. I feel sad that since she was about 24 she's had to try to caretake her mom and look after her sisters.

This is not to say I don't feel extreme sympathy for Lisa Marie but she needed lots of therapy and she probably shouldn't have had kids tbh (or have had them much later in life when she was more settled within herself as a person).

It seems like Lisa- and the kids, really- didn't take into account how much the stable parenting was actually coming from Danny (iirc he was the one driving the twins to school the day she passed). She had an abundance of love for her babies but she wasn't a stable influence at all.

I think it's saying she DID realize she wasn't being a great mother, and that realization drove her further into drugs. She was still attached to the label, but she knew she didn't deserve it, and the only solution to that knowledge was getting high.

That is exactly how it reads to me as well. She lost the only thing she thought she was good at, which left her feeling even more hopeless.

She felt she lost everything and couldn't cope, so she fell deeper into her addiction(s).

Extremely depressing shit. And unfortunately, I can relate a lot.
