Yes, Grammys nomination voting closed a few hours ago so of course she made a big announcement right before it closed lol.

I really don’t think she’s winning anything this year anyway. The general field will probably be Billie for AOTY and Billie vs. Bruno and Gaga for SOTY/ROTY and the pop field will be Billie vs. Sabrina.

i’m the only ttpd stan on ONTD and it honestly is probably tied for brat for my personal aoty in the world of things that might get grammy noms but the midnights win was so crazy for such a mediocre album i will be so mad if she wins twice in a row lol… so hope you’re right!

Yeah I think I said I liked TTPD (interesting in a deranged way) more than Midnights (meh) in the original listening post and I got so many poop reactions 😭

But last year, she didn’t really have competition from anyone except SZA, a black woman, and this year, she has competition from a white woman in Billie that the Grammys loves even more than her + she doesn’t have as much of a narrative as last time so I don’t think she’s winning back to back but you never know with the Grammys lol.

I thought live performances improved TTPD but that album is still so bad to listen to without the visuals, so rambly, so cringe, unimaginative melodies that all blend together, it's her worst album by a mile, I can't stand it lmfaooo Midnights was so much better melodically than whatever this teenage diary in song form was, if it wins, I will riot

Me!!! I’m not gonna pretend TTPD doesn’t have bad songs (I think all her albums have skips) but when I see fans/non fans say it’s all samey and boring I feel crazy lol, it has some of her best writing and I love how confessionally messy it is.

The combo of people being sick of her + the length + the chart gamification are resulting in it being seen as worthless artistically but it ISNT! It’s genuinely my favorite project she’s ever released lmao

yah people acting like it’s OBJECTIVELY considerably worse than midnights is crazy to me and the number one tell that at least sooooome of the reaction has to do with people just being sick of her. or sick of the way she sounds with antonoff but idk their collabs are hit or miss for me but just sonically speaking i feel like TTPD is like “what if midnights sounded good”… jack remembered you can put bass notes in songs

Yessss the way you feel her going crazy in nearly every song lmao, I love that you brought up the juxtaposition because I really like the “fuck you stay out of it” in But Daddy I Love Him to “oops” in I Can Fix Him. It’s also better now that the fourth wall is totally broken, Clara Blow and How Did It End are good to me b/c of her obsession with fame and confessional songwriting, not in spite of it. And even though Midnights is the worse album by far I do love the existence of Dear Reader because it helps that she’s like “you shouldn’t listen to my shitty advice I’m clearly a wreck but also heres five more things you should know” cause this is just a giant compendium of that in the best way possible

Idk the album is full of self loathing and moral grey areas/outright confessions of shittiness, mania, her admitting her own arrested development….like this is not boring to me people!

Also I maintain that Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus and I Look in People’s Windows are two of the best songs she’s EVER released

I'm really hoping Brat stages a surprise win. It's a real shame Allie X is still too small beans for the Academy to recognise her bc Girl With No Face is my AOTY and a career highlight for her - totally self produced too. Taylor hopping onto the coat-tails of either of the genres embodied in those albums would be hilarious. Hyperpop Taylor or Coldwave Taylor. Actually she might be able to pull off the second one but it would require quite a shift in songwriting
