This is SUCH bullshit. I feel awful for him.

and like

What a waste of MONEY. Look at how many funeral wreaths they sent:

And for what? To end the career of a guy who just did some normal teenage things? AND IT WORKED!!!

IT WORKED!!!

That's the insane thing!

they were going to send 25 trucks including in front of their advertisements/advertisers' buildings just to tank the group

it's just absolutely insane and abhorrent given i fully believe it was the members who were fine with him coming back (because they're the ones that were harmed the most by how he was acting)

the amount of hate/rejection wonbin got for his letter was something to behold too, just baffling to me

it's entirely possible the company was hiding behind him but it's equally possible they acted in concert and he was just sticking up for his friend

Hilariously, ot7 fans have been targeting companies they work with now and those companies are seeing the stories and posts. Even more funny is apparently at least one share holder is like quick they want 7 members so find a 7th member.

But honestly this sets a dangerous precedent and while I personally just want RIIZE all the way away from sm, I also want to fight back. I think sm seriously messed up with his decision.

Wait. Can I get the cliffs notes?

So this guy was in a kpop group. The guy got a similar age girlfriend. The management company kicked him out of the group. But then the guy was still bullied and the management group said he couldn’t come back to the group after all. A pop music boy band.

And people sent wreaths. Is that a metaphor because they liked his career?

Remind me to never become famous with K fans because my god.

No, it's even worse. The pictures with the girl and smoking are from before he even joined the group and people with no lives got all in their feelings about it because somehow that "betrayed" them. This is toxic fan behavior at its worst.

Toxic to extremes and shame on the company for telling those fans it’s ok to behave like that over a young man who will never date any of them anyway.

So, shortly after the group debuted, messages and images of Sueghan having a girlfriend pre-deubt leaked. And like it was nothing bad, really. She was the same age as him. Just teengaers doing teenage things. Kissing but like no one was unclothed or anything. Just... teens kissing...

So the company put him on hiatus from group activities. They didn't kick him out, but they essentially kept him in limbo for ALMOST A FULL YEAR.

Then finally a couple of days ago they were like "ok he's returning now" and then fans FLIPPED THE FUCKED OUT and sent dozens of funeral wreaths to the company protesting his return.

And instead of standing by their artist, the company permanently removed him from the group.

Kept him on hiatus for a year, so he def thought he'd eventually be back. Finally is brought back. Then after fan pushback, they kick him out permanently.

They really fucked over this guy and his career for the crime of having a girlfriend and kissing her.

I forgot to write the part where he came back then got kicked out again

The parasocial behavior is so disturbing but what’s even worse is the company caved anyway, enabling that behavior for others.

Korean companies and society always caves in cuz of the whole “saving face” thing.

It’s one of things I can’t stand about my own people.

Just kissing!?!

These fans are nuts…like they really want their kpop idols be asexual non-entities.

Yeah the most scandalous picture was them kissing in a bed. But again, fully clothed and like it wasn't an ~intense kiss~. It was cute and playful.

Absolutely insane that fans tanked his career over it.

I mean they were in a hotel which, especially in Korea, the implication is not good, but that doesn't excuse the cray cray behavior

Yeah I mean they might have been doing the horizontal tango but they were both teenagers. Teens sometimes have sex. I know it’s more taboo in Korean culture but like… idk. The 10 month long hiatus was way too long. A massive overreaction. Wait a month or two for the worst of it to blow over and then stand behind your artist! SM really fucked him over.

I agree they made the wrong decision to wait that long to bring him back. Tops 3 months and they should have brought him back. I get that it was early in their career and maybe they thought bringing him back early would jeopardize things, but them waiting this long made it even worse because they can now use the excuse that what RIIZE has achieved thus far and the momentum they've made is because he was not part of it and/or that he does not deserve to come back and benefit from what they've achieved.

SM folded so fast, I got whiplash (ha). This time, they SHOULD have waited it out and not folded in 2 seconds. Their upper management really messed up and whoever their PR company is also sucks.

It’s just enraging that the fans have so much power and this will only embolden them to behave even worse. These agencies are part of the problem, encouraging this behavior, forcing the idols to live sheltered lives just to appease fans.

Meanwhile some of the people involved in the burning sun scandal are out.

Also all the money they spent on a hateful campaign instead of supporting a meaningful cause, couldn’t be me.
