I finally watched netflixs persuasion a month ago and my god look at how they massacred my boy keep them AWAY from p&p

I would like to see Autumn de Wilde take on p&p i loved her emma

agree on both counts! Autumn really understood the assignment of Emma and made one of the best Emma adaptations ever in a super crowded field.

yes! emma never got me the way p&p did, and i never could get into the screen versions, but autumn's emma adaptation was next level. the entire film had such feeling, loved it

emma got the prettiest first look scene surrounded by flowers in the early morning and then kingsley just appears plump cheeks bare in the wind to me that’s cinema

i can appreciate clueless but i grew up in LA and went to BHHS for two years so when i was younger that movie to me was basically just a documentary about all the kids i hated lol

I was going to be merciful with my judgment, but omg what they did to Persuasion was criminal. Only Mary kinda worked.

If anyone responsible for Persuasion is ever involved in a criminal trial, the prosecution should submit the dvd as character evidence because they deserved jail for that

I still cringe at it. I don't know that any Austen character would have worked with that whole Fleabag vibe they were going for, but to try it with Anne Elliot out of all of them... it was basically an confession that they only read the CliffNotes and didn't even understand those.

It was so unbelievably BAD. Introducing modern elements can work when done properly, but this was just horrific all around and as you say, shows they haven’t read the book, let alone understood it.
