its a period drama in the sense where it takes place 'in the future' which results in them going back in time and treating women as property.

and no, they do not. at least at the current time in the series - she is married pre-hell breaking lose but is separated from him. Later forced to have a baby for the couple that owns her but dude cant get her pregnant so she hooks up with the dude in the gif and has his baby, of which said baby gets taken from her for the couple.

more shit happens after that but like... its not... a great love story.

ah I see :S I'm not in the mood for really dark stuff now, I do need some sort of a happy ending even if the setting is fucked up so I might skip it after all

yeah avoid Handmaid's Tale like the plague if you don't want really dark. it's VERY dark.

It's a very rough show, but they have really great chemistry and their characters together are some light in the show imo.

They're filming the final season now. Yeah, after season 2, they're separated from each other, but they get moments where they get to be together.

Margret Atwood already wrote the sequel so it’s presumed the show will end similarly. Honestly with this story even a happy ending is still very depressing

I read it when it came out so it’s a bit blurry but essentially it takes place about 15 years later and surrounds her two daughters (the one she has with her husband and the one she has with the gif dude) as they are in like… training school. Stuff happens and I think it ends with the collapse of the government as the “secrets” are released as western forces take over/maybe Canada?

we don’t know yet. probably not just because the show isn’t a happy one but if you can make it through the dark parts of the show their scenes and chemistry are electric
