Dolly has routinely donated both out of her own pocket and through the Dollywood Foundation, which legit is doing some AMAZING work not just in the US but internationally. Its most famous project is the Imagination Library, but also the My People Fund which focuses on the Great Smokies area, including relief from natural disasters. After the Gatlinburg fires in 2016, Dolly provided each family who lost their home $1,000 a month for six months while they got back on their feet.

Imagination Library sends over 2 million books a MONTH to children ages 0-5 in covered areas (they partner with local groups to split funding) in not just the US but overseas. They even now send braille books to children who are blind or have low vision. If your county offers it, EVERY child is qualified. I signed my nephew up before he was even born and he got his first book when he was a few days old.

It's not just a tax write-off for her, Dolly literally practices what she preaches re: philanthropy and has for decades. She donated massive amounts to fund COVID vaccine research, too. She uses the Dollywood Foundation for donations because that is where a lot of the money from her companies (such as Dollywood - which is a big deal in the Smokies and actually really fun even if you hate country music) is tied up for tax purposes, yes, but it's there so she can keep helping.

For my friends’ kids I either sign them up for the imagination library or make a donation in their name.
