September 30, 2024 If you want to donate to fund Hurricane Helene relief,
Charity Navigator has put together a list of highly-rated charities providing aid. WRAL in Raleigh, NC has put together
a list of groups specifically funding Western North Carolina relief (probably the hardest hit area, and I don't say this only because I live here in a town that was luckily spared the worst). As always, you can donate to organizations such as the American Red Cross, World Central Kitchen, and organizations such as Americares, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, and local organizations such as Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in Asheville (their shelter was flooded by all the animals were evacuated). Also, FEMA has put together
a list of misinformation being perpetuated by MAGA/Elon Musk/idiots/etc (including - the government is trying to eminent domain two quartz mines, the government is trying to eminent domain Chimney Rock Village to build a resort, the government is not using Helene as a test run to kill Americans by shutting down all infrastructure in a Republican area - which is dumb because Asheville is EXTREMELY liberal), FEMA is broke because they sent all their money to Ukraine, they want to eminent domain more land for national parks or something? idek), the NC State Police are confiscating donations (there is no such thing as the NC State Police, we have Highway Patrol unless you're at NC State University in Raleigh 250+ miles away) so you can be assured that the government is active in NC, relief is being distributed, and people are being helped.
