Politicians are more concerned over a cult in the Middle East

If you mean that the US budget is disproportionately slanted toward the military engaged in foreign affairs that we shouldn’t be engaged in, as opposed to that money going to assist our own people in need, then I agree.

If you mean something else, can you please elaborate (or not, if you don’t want to open that can in here, which I get).

I'm talking about politicians like Lindsey graham who changed subject on live tv to talk about giving Israel more bullets instead of helping out communities here

Ok, elaborate. The federal government has given the states everything they've asked for. The defense budget has nothing to do with how much FEMA does or doesn't have. You need to be specific about what exactly you're referring to, because this is literally what MAGAts are saying right now - "they have money for wars and illegal aliens, but not Americans!!!!!!"

it's a complaint I have too that I would level at the democrats AND the republicans. I don't think it's in good faith to shoot down criticism of our financial priorities just because it also criticizes our current administration/Kamala's potential administration.

At least the politicians in the areas affected/surrounding states seem to care. Even our hardcore MAGA reps have come out to try and get the misinformation to stop and support the government relief efforts because the people spreading those lies aren't even here - a lot of it is Russian.

ALSO Trump is trying to spread these lies and Republican politicians are hopping on board because they know if they can get people to think these lies, people will blame Helene on Democrats (and MTG now seems to be blaming Jews and "weather-changing machines" but she can fuck off this mortal plane). And they focus on NC because we are a swing state and the election will be won or lost here, even in the mostly rural, sparsely populated mountains.

It doesn't matter right now who is fighting about who as long as people see that yes, FEMA is here, FEMA is helping. Fuck the politicians politicizing it, but at the same time, we have to focus on the fact that there is help here and this isn't a one week or one month recovery - this is going to take YEARS to ( ... )

I'm going to vote for Kamala, but that doesn't mean I can't be critical of Democrats, ffs
