People were saying this last year about Victoria Monet and Noah Kahan. This award is more about when you become a household name.

Those comparisons don't make sense. Sabrina Carpenter has 5 full blown studio albums and her last album is where she had "Nonsense" which is the song that made her mainstream.

Zayn should sue lol. He couldn't be nominated because of 1d but this is somehow allowed?

Then they should rename the award as a breakthrough award or something. It just doesn't make sense at all to do it this way.

IA with the user saying they should rename the award, but I hardly consider Victoria and Noah household names (I am fans of both though!). Sabrina was bigger than both of them before espresso came out. I was at Coachella this year and everyone was clamoring to see her on the main stage. I saw Victoria at one of the side stages at an earlier time slot the next day (she was incredibleeeeeee).
