I voted Depp bc I feel like ONTD is one of the few places that has been consistently against him since the stuff with Amber came to light.

as despicable as all these people are, Depp terrified me in particular because he managed to brainwash millions of people into participating in a DARVO smear campaign against an abuse victim, the repercussions of which can be felt to this day in various other civil cases

what he did was unprecedented with social media, and he capitalized on the public's love and adoration/attraction to him in a way so slimey, so sneaky, so DELIBERATELY cold calculating and sociopathic....

it was truly one of the most disturbing events I've ever witnessed go down

Good points, I hadn’t thought of it that way, but you really explained why that whole social media campaign was so sinister and traumatizing.

thank you, and it leaked into every day life. Even if I stayed off social media largely, I couldn't escape it because people KEPT bringing it up in conversation and declaring their hatred of Amber and love for Depp.

It gave me a really sick feeling and deep distrust for other people that I haven't fully been able to shake.

Yes, I had those same issues. My relationship with one of my sister’s was really strained for awhile even.

It got to the point where anytime either of their names came up, I would get panicky and want to leave the room. I suppose, in all honesty, these were *trauma responses.
Edit: typos

it honestly was one of those situations where you feel like you're taking crazy pills, the guy's lawsuit was so ridiculous that he had to go jurisdiction shopping for somewhere that would actually let him sue her and yet by the end of it had the whole world convinced that he'd been completely exonerated even though no such thing had happened? the worship of the celebrity man, the tearing apart of an "imperfect" victim, nothing new there, but the way it got whipped into a frenzy to the point where there were viral TikToks mocking her crying faces is just...wow. it was misogyny, it was MeToo backlash, and, yeah, all it means is celebrity men will keep getting away with it because the consequences of speaking out could be worse than anything else you'll go through. utterly depraved.

it was misogyny so vile and rampant that it convinced me absolutely nothing has changed in the world views women, and if anything, men hate us even more now that they can't fully control us legally (though they do try!)
