The camera work for her VMA performance really did her no favors. Too many wide shots and it felt like they were trying to catch up with her the entire time.
The camera work was my biggest complaint, the choreography was obviously v precise and they only got one or two good shots of it the whole time (the sword triangle bit and the part where she "pushed back" on the soldiers)
My only other complaint was that the backing track eclipsed her killer live vocals. For an artist like Chappell, you need to dial that shit back, not amp it up. It's not like she's Camila or Katy.
Yeah but I think it's because she kept missing her mark--there are a few shots where it's clear she doesn't know which camera she should be looking at which I can imagine made shooting the thing a bit harder.
