If you read the article about it, it just sounds like Adam McKay is a shitty friend who doesn't know how to communicate? Which is fairly typical for a lot of dudes, unfortunately.

That sucks. I wasn’t sure if it was a build up or one off.

Sadly I’ve had a couple of close friendships that ended quickly so I try to understand both sides.

I definitely do just think it’s that he wanted to make “serious” movies and Will was a bit lost with what he wanted for the next era of his career. their production company had already basically started to be divided in the years after Vice. and then McKay kinda screwed him over by casting John C. Reilly in the lead role in Winning Time which Will really wanted and had until McKay changed his mind without telling him. and then he didn’t even tell Will, John C. Reilly had to be the guy to do it.

and then the company ended for real, Will hasn’t talked to McKay in years. should make the SNL50 reunion interesting…

I think him and John are still good because if I recalled, John called Will after he learned the tea about that role. John was the good friend to tell Will when Adam couldn't even do that.

I think John and Will are still friends, mostly bc John did the right thing and talked to Will privately. McKay put that shit on blast and idt that’s Will’s style at all. Chris Kattan did that and those dudes still aren’t friends at all after like. decades.

Oh wow, I did not expect JCR to be involved! Plus I thought they went there separate ways yearssss ago while Winning Time wasn’t that long ago but if true, I can see how that was the nail in the coffin 😞
