Mariah confirms her mother Patricia and sister Alison died on the same day over the weekend.

No other details have been released.

Oh wow, the article says she didn't have much of a relationship with her siblings and her relationship with her mom was complicated as well. She's prolly going through a bunch of confusing emotions.

Yeah, I just finished her memoir earlier this month and it was heartbreaking to read how her sister treated her and how they both had tumultuous relationships with their mother. She has always been so gracious towards them despite their hardships and I really feel for her having to deal with two losses at once.

I haven't finished her memoir, but her mom was a narcissistic parent. She didn't like that Mariah became the successful singer she wanted to be. Mariah said that when she was a girl, her mom once said, "You could only wish to ever be half as good as the singer I am," and that stuck with her. Dad was out of the picture and even more so when he and her mother split. Mariah alleged that her mom was probably with him, a Black man, to spite and piss off her own family. When Mariah was having her breakdown aka the TRL appearance, her mother turned in on her and tried to make her look bad to the press and professionals. She alleges her mother may have called police for an ambulance around that time to make her downfall look even worse to the public

I had this with my dad. I think it made the grieving process really drawn out (there were other factors too… long sad story) and I didn’t really get over it or realise how hard I was hit by it for years

My sister died just before Christmas last year and we had a very...not stable relationship that caused me to block her a few months before she passed and it's made things so, so extra complicated in my grieving process.
