Love the OP note lol. This looks cheesy af.

I hate cruise ships for environmental reasons and will never waste my money on one but I almost get its appeal? But I’d also feel claustrophobic, knowing I’m trapped, in the middle of the ocean or wherever.

You get everything provided for you and the ship takes you to multiple destinations while giving you all your food and entertainment.

That’s the part that intrigues me. My bff and her fam went on their first cruise recently and her kids went wild over the buffets. They loaded up on bacon because it was so accessible and she was like “no…wait…” lol

A big part of cruises, too, is the fact you can pay $50 to $100 a day or whatever (it varies) and get unlimited alcohol. You're on a ship, you're not driving anywhere, so people get sloshed fast - especially on short cruises (3 and 4 night ones). You get on board, you get a drink, you go to the pool and dinner and see a show, and the next morning you wake up in another country, lather rinse repeat. And also all you can eat bacon of course.

The are also great for seniors (or families with seniors) who can't quite do long distance multi-stop travel anymore but still want to travel.

That's true! I feel like everyone I know who goes on a cruise comes back sick though, which doesn't seem worth it. A couple friend from back in the day would go on cruises at least once a year and I swear they always came back with some sort of flu or whatever, another reason that it doesn't seem worth it to me lol.

After my cruises in 2023 and 2024, I got sick (beyond ear infection) but it wasn't COVID - first time was a cold and an allergic reaction to something, second was RSV.

Noooo, oh, that's awful, I'm sorry :( You must really love cruises though if you're still going!

Well, not going this year (afaik LOL). Maybe next year, but cruises can get pricey. They're just very convenient when it comes to all your stuff in one place - room, food, entertainment, transportation, activities, etc.

Your reasons are why I love Vegas lol. If I had more money I'd be more of a regular. I don't think I ever would have visited if my friend didn't move there but I love it because a lot is all inclusive and even the cheapest buffets are amaaaaazing and I can chill at a pool without feeling guilty (I'm that person who has to be a tourist wherever I go).

Whenever I mention that a cruise might be nice, my Brother reminds me about the Norovirus outbreaks. And the one time the sewer system backed up on a ship.

Lololol props to your brother. But omg noooo at sewage back up!!! How can you even escape that?? It’s not like a hotel where you can move to a different room the next day because people checked out.

god this is me, and I’m not even a senior. I just have fibromyalgia and flying physically hurts with the change in the altitude. Slowly float me from place to place, feed me, and call me pretty.

A cruise line should pay you for this tagline.

Some comedian once described a cruise ship as "jail with a chance of drowning."
Although, all of the food & traveling to different places without leaving your "hotel" is a bit tempting.

As someone mentioned above, it def makes sense for seniors and people who can’t fly, can’t deny that.

But that comedian is accurate 😂 I’ve only heard good things about the staff from friends who have gone on cruises, but it’s prob worse for them! Their living quarters are tiiiiiight.
