The scary thing is how much of the public disagrees about that last part, so many people think they're entitled to entertainers and being harassed in their personal downtime is something that they sign up for. People can be so self serving to such a damaging degree.

Yeah - it's a dangerous level of entitlement. This kind of fan mentality of 'WE MADE YOU! WITHOUT US YOU WOULDN'T EXIST' as if it completely erases the artists' own talent and ambition who also played a part in his/her success.

I'm all out for calling an artist who's rude to fans - but setting one's boundaries is NOT rude. Saying no to a picture is not rude. Etc.

i saw a comment on fauxmoi that summed it up:

"Artists don't owe us shit, they already gave us the fucking art. We already consumed their end of the deal."

It is astounding how the second people hand over any money at all for a product or service, they also think they've bought the human being that supplied it.

i remember really thinking about that for the first time when bieber made comments about it. like if you consume an artist's art, that's what you're paying for and what they've giving you, not anything beyond that. they get to have time off just like the rest of us!
