Chappell Roan news: interview with Bowen Yang & request for fans to stop being entitled
Bowen Yang interviewed Chappell Ronan for Interview magazine the day after she admitted to fans at her Raleigh show that she was beginning to struggle with her newfound fame.

“In the past, honestly, eight weeks, my entire life has changed. It’s been really emotional because I’m not just singing pop music. It’s automatically political because I’m gay.”
She thought that she peaked when she sold out the Bowery Ballroom a few years ago so doing even bigger shows now is icing on the cake.
She started doing music to get her foot in the door for acting but once she got to Los Angeles, she realized the movie industry is scary and actors are crazy. She started getting offers for acting roles after her music blew up recently but she isn’t interested in pursuing acting now (although she said she would be open to a silly cameo).
Bowen said the first time he played hooky from SNL was so he could see Chappell perform in Brooklyn.
“I say no to pretty much everything right now. I don’t want to fucking go back into the mental hospital because I don’t know how to handle my emotions.”
She turned down a full scholarship at Interlochen (a performing arts high school) to stay with her “hick boyfriend.”

Yesterday, Chappell posted videos on TikTok asking fans not to be so rude and entitled. In the first video, she asked if you would yell out your car window at a random person, ask to take a picture with a random person then get mad when this person said no, harass a random person in public, stalk a random person’s family, bully a random person online, dissect a random person’s life, etc. In the second video, she says that even though stalking and harassing celebrities is now considered normal, she doesn’t like it and she’s allowed to say no.
