Regarding the Chris brown photo, another example of why I’ll never idolize a celeb

You may think you know these people due to having a parasocial relationship but you truly don’t. She can say I support domestic abuse victims yet still hang out with cb because “he’s cool with me”, therefore he’s changed (or they really don’t care which would seem unlike kehlani but then again, we don’t know them). we see it all the time with everyday people

The "parasocial" thing is so misused/overused, just like every single pop-psychology term out there. 🙄 Being disappointed that someone seemingly respectable has chosen to hang out with a known abuser is...reasonable? If you take it as a personal slight or it consumes your life, yeah, that's unhealthy. But just regular old calling someone out (someone you may have given your time and $$$$$ to) and being frustrated by it?? That's just normal human feelings!

parasocial relationships is not a new phenomenon lol i googled "parasocial" and each definition came up the same: its a one sided relationship with a famous person or character. actually, northeastern university has an interesting sentence about it: It’s a relationship based on a projected version of another person, not any real interaction with the person themselves.
