Just one day after causing a stir on social media when a new selfie with Chris Brown was shared on socials, singer-songwriter and activist Kehlani is now being accused of... being in a cult?

parasocial relationships is not a new phenomenon lol i googled "parasocial" and each definition came up the same: its a one sided relationship with a famous person or character. actually, northeastern university has an interesting sentence about it: It’s a relationship based on a projected version of another person, not any real interaction with the person themselves. (its about swift but very interesting read https://cssh.northeastern.edu/taylor-swift-is-not-your-bff-what-are-parasocial-relationships-and-are-they-healthy-for-us/#:~:text=Ricks%2C%20who%20has%20researched%20online,reading%20at%20Northeastern%20Global%20News.) which is what is happening here. we never knew her opinion on chris brown, only assumed based off her reaction to other abusers (like tory lanez). you can think you know how someone is based off the good things they say but then they turn around and do something totally hypocritical. it doesnt always take away the importance of their activism, but shows to those who care perhaps not to rely so much on that person to always make respectable choices. thats why its hard to fully support a celeb by giving them your time and money, because any moment any of them can turn out to be in a grayer area of being worse than you hope. from experience i have tried to stay away from getting emotionally connected to a celebrity bc i havent found it beneficial for myself to keep giving energy to. i like and support kehlani, but all i can do is shake my head

ig all im trying to say is no one should be surprised when a person they dont know does something they dont approve (unless theyre an elected official or a billionaire then hold their feet to all the flames imo)
