I rly dislike the “in retrospect” of things. At the time, besides pop fans she was getting so much shit. Now it’s “we see the vision” with some blithe high score lmao spare me. When I think back to the lack of empathy and understanding as well as misogyny (internalised) too - it’s sick. I remember fighting back against that but also being swept up in it. every sunday pitchfork does a retrospective review of an album that they didn't cover at the time it was released, so this isn't a reassessment like they've done for albums like born to die. i don't think they've ever reviewed a britney album, actually!
