Just curious - why do you think Chappel won’t last?

I also think Sabrina’s long term success can go either way. This album will be a pivotal one for her imo.

i mean i could always be wrong, but i don't see her as an artist who will branch out beyond a certain point to keep things interesting for a broad audience. i can see her having cult success, similar to a marina, a carly rae, or a (deep inhale) melanie martinez.

Good point. Yeah - she could settle into a niche audience.

A lot of people are already comparing her visual “looks” and performance art to early Gaga, which I haven’t put much thought into yet whether I think that’s fair or unfair; but sustaining that kind of interest on the visual performance elements would be difficult long term.

I guess a lot of it would also depend on the music; she’s only had 1 album so far. I think she’s vocally talented so maybe that will help as well.

I hope she does become a more cult/niche success tbh, I don't want the mainstream audience to stifle her creativity

Chappells star has been growing over the last year. Good Luck Babe accelerated that spike in popularity but even before that she was already selling out small/mid size venues and had a very anticipated (among pop devotees) debut album. Some of the songs have been around for years and she booked a ton of festivals this summer before GLB dropped. If she has a sophomore album up her sleeve and it has the impact of this last one she might just stick around.

I think Chappell still hasn’t reached her peak success and she will eventually hit the general public in the next couple years.

However, I also think she will end up settling with a more niche audience.

At the beginning of the year I was listening to her songs a lot but in a couple of months they felt tiresome, like a Marina Diamonds song I will only listen twice a year.

Maybe she will surprise me with future releases, but who knows.

gaga understood marketing/publicity, chappell's already overwhelmed
