I would imagine that thy would get in some sort of trouble for overserving? I can see why they would make a statement like this, plus he could have drank a lot more elsewhere and just got "a lil something for the road" at the hotel. Not sure if people still do this bullshit but back when I used to club/barhop there was always a mad dash to the bar during last call with people wanting one last drink.

yeah a lot of people seem to be interpreting this as a timberlake defense but it sounds more CYA to me (no snark there, would hate for this guy to get in trouble for someone else’s shitty decisions)

Right? He’s not going to say he served him 8 drinks and then the valet handed him his keys and let him go on his merry way.

Yeah a bar can be sued for letting someone get too fucked up and especially letting them drive home. People always forget that.

Dram Laws if the state uses them. We do in Utah. The employee and establishment can get their asses sued, fined and possibly lose their liquor license (which is a death sentence for any food/bev in Mormonville).

Had a bartender who couldn't tell a fake id (the kid looked YOUNG) and got him so intoxicated, he was denied boarding the plane. He was shocked when he was fired. Like, bro? Are you serious? The kid was barely 19.

We were cited only because we canned his ass and reported him to the state (he can't serve alcohol for approx 7 years in Utah)
