I read it as Pietro initially too but it's actually Prieto, so I'm guessing he's Spanish or Latino.

Nick Fuentes is probably the most high-profile Latino Nazi I can think of. The guy who did a mass shooting outside of a mall in Dallas last year was a neo-Nazi with Mexican heritage. His social media posts were full of stuff about picking the "right side" and being severely anti-immigrant. He specifically picked that mall because it was in a very diverse area where a lot of the victims were Asian.

To say it's "pick-me" is probably an understatement, but there is like a mini culture-war in Texas with Americans of Mexican decent and recent immigrants from Mexico & Central America.

prieto is a kinda not nice nickname for darker skinned people in some countries, so...ya know. the irony. at the end of summer, basically all my male cousins were called prieto, and not in a cutesy kinda way.

I did not know that. I speak/read Spanish, but I don't know the nuances/sayings/insults. Thank you for the info. But yeah, the irony hurts.

If people just TALKED to each other, they'd realize how much in common we all have. It's really sad to see that we live in a time where communication is the easiest that's ever been and yet people refuse to listen.

slang is different from one spanish speaking country to the next (and sometimes from one area of the same country to its neighbor) so i can't speak on anything other than my own experiences. i don't speak spanish well, either, bc i'm only half puerto rican and the other half is from white racists lol, so i wasn't allowed to speak spanish in my house growing up. but at all the family get togethers, you pick up the insults and when you're mixed, you pick up on the casual racism and colorism quickly.

it's beyond depressing how far we'll go to hate each other instead of listening. enjoy the ice cream bb
