I'm glad she's talking about this, and the fact that the cancer was missed during her initial mammogram due to having dense breast tissue is scary as fuck. I got my pumpkins smashed last month and no changes from the year before, so yay! I think the recommended age to get a mammogram should be lowered bcause so many women are getting diagnosed at an earlier age.

I'm 36 and I know no less than 5 women in my age range that have had breast cancer. Hopefully they do lower the recommended age for mammograms

I have dense breast tissue also and insurance refuses to pay for extra testing like a sonogram.

That's awful. Can you have your doctor press the issue and see if you can get an exception?

Earlier this month, JAMA published new guidelines that lowered the recommended age to 40.
