Damn, that's awful. If I'm reading the article right, she literally only knew about the cancer at all because of getting an MRI that detected masses after her OB-GYN decided her risk profile was high enough? That is fucking terrifying. Like, was she feeling symptoms before that?

I didn't realize she was friends with Jessica St. Clair - that's great she has someone to talk to that's been through it.

this is what scares me about so many cancers, you may never had symptoms until it's like stage 4. i think pancreatic is a big one for that

My dad's cancer was a small cell aggressive lung cancer that they initially thought was a primary renal cancer - no sign on blood tests. It was only after he started losing weight and needing to pee more that they sent him for a renal scan. There was a tumour. He went for more scans, and it was already in his lungs, liver and bones - it started in his lungs, and the kidney tumour was secondary. He had no obvious symptoms before the kidney tumour and by then it was too late:(

my dad had no symptoms of renal cancer until he lost the whole kidney. But he has some incredible luck because the other kidney was completely healthy. No need for chemo at first. Only 9 years later did it appear in the adrenal gland but again its another duplicate organ so they removed it and he still has the other functioning adrenal gland. They thought it spread to his lungs but after a round of treatment it turned out to be nothing.
