Y’all… one of my most embarrassing moments ever happened because of a god damn beach boy.

Picture it. I’m at a record store appearance of my favorite band. I’m talking to the keyboardist who I had a huge crush on. He holds up an album and asks me if I’d checked it out.
I said I hadn’t. Then I doubled down and said his band was the first indier band I had been into.
I was hanging out with a friend later that night when I realized.
The album he held up?

They were my first concert! I remember they were tossing giant beach balls in the audience and my dad kept bopping them and wouldn’t let me and I was getting pissed because I wanted to bop one! 😤

I’m basic and “God Only Knows” is def a fave.

Nothing basic about it, it’s such a lovely song. God Only Knows is also a big fave of mine. But in terms of more upbeat ones, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, I Get Around, Little Deuce Coup, Surin USA… so many bops

I’m definitely having a Beach Boys party while I clean tomorrow (ugh, I hate getting older lol). Wouldn’t It Be Nice is another good one.

I wonder if it touches on the craziness of their connection with Charles Manson. Obviously they're not responsible for him but man the connection is wild.

My mom loves TBB so I grew up listening to them. Like Abba, The Beatles and Queen, their music is made to last.

God Only Knows is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, Brian Wilson is a true genius. I had no idea about his struggles until one day I watched Love & Mercy and my heart broke for him. Paul Dano and John Cusack were great in it and the movie is one of my favorite music biopics.

It’s genuinely such a gorgeous song! It makes my heart feel things which I’m not sure many (any?) other pop songs have ever done

I learned about The Beach Boys from full house. They were on there a bunch of times performing.

That's because John Stamos occasionally performed in concert with the Beach Boys, typically playing drums and various other percussion instruments. He appeared in their video for "Kokomo", in which he played both the conga drums and the steel drums.
