If you go on an older ship, you don't get the fancy shit like ice skating rinks and aquatic shows and go karts, but you do get nice and quiet and smaller crowds. My first cruise was on the Celebrity Infinity, so it was Royal Caribbean's premium line so geared more to adults 30+ and there were almost as many crew as passengers so drinks showed up very fast, we had the same waiter every night no matter when we showed up, always got a prime chair at the pool, and great seats at the theater for shows. And I went to all the game shows so the activity staff knew my name, it was fun. But that is not the norm. The ship restarted late from COVID and as such wasn't filling up, so we paid $450 as our base price each for 6 nights with a balcony (all in we were under $1,000 each with taxes, fees, drinks, internet, and tips) and went to the Bahamas and Mexico.
This is basically the same food I had on my cruise. I'd suggest if you don't know about cruising, go on a premium line. It will spoil you for cruising LMAO - I went on Celebrity and then Norwegian and me and my mother (my traveling companion) both wanted to go back to Celebrity after. And on a cruise the main dining room and buffet are included, and sometimes other stuff, too. On Virgin Voyages, all the restaurants are included with your fare.
