omega verse

NO.

Keep that to the tag on AO3 so I can always filter it out.

I've been in fandom for literally decades and I will never understand the appeal of it, horrible

I genuinely think the appeal started off as women in fandom being so automisogynistic that they created a whole genre that lets them get rid of women completely while still keeping full heteronormativity, including pregnancy plots. Also, it has like half the fanfiction PWP tropes built into it.

I had to look up what omegaverse is, and I wish I could erase memories from my brain

I truly thought I had lost of my innocence years ago. Until today. I weep for the girl I was.

if only they'd at least stick to one type of tag.

I swear, I love the fact that we can use all the tags that we want but I think there should be a list of specific genres that are set and authors have to choose from.
I wanna know what is the overall feeling of your story, I don't care that you wrote it at 3am after drinking half a bottle of tequila, and no, i don't wanna see in the tags that your characters are gonna have sex in the scene marked between asterisks just because a special snowflake wants to be warned about porn scenes written in a 3k words one shot pwp rated explicit and titled "this is just sex".

people who fuck up tagging on AO3 are bad and dumb. it's not tumblr, your tags are actually meant for real organization there

it should be mandatory that before you post anything on AO3, you must spend some time posting and reading fics on ff.net or any fic archive with that tag system.

in case you didn't know, you can put an asterisk next to whatever word you want to exclude in the tags and it's pretty good at filtering it out, so can just do *omega and it works. [The day I discovered I could do *reader was a BLESSED day]

Oh wow, I've got to try this! (I, too, cannot stand the proliferation of Character A/You fics in my fandoms.)

Although the stupid tags are often a good indication of why I should skip a fic. Things like 'I didn't have a beta', 'I didn't reread it before posting', 'I know they are OOC, but they are too cute', don't help with finding good fics, but definitely help in saving myself from the truly bad.

other than excluding tags, I also follow an equation, and i'm not even kidding.
If I'm looking at a long fic, I'll check the word count and divide it by the number of chapters, and if the total is under 2-3k words per chapters I'll most probably not read it (unless the summary seems to be super intriguing).
Like, I'm sorry but if I see a fic of 19k words with 25 chapters I'll assume each chapter is a random short scene instead of a chapter with some structure, especially if all 25 chapters seem to have been posted in the timespan of a month.

I don't find that strange, because I do the same thing. Even when I'm looking for 'short' fics, I refuse to read anything under 1500 words.
