That would be beyond silly and I feel like would ensure they piss members off. It’s not like they were frontrunners jfc.

But tbh I could see it

That's one way of ensuring they never get nominated again. I mean their movie got 8 nominations, including Best Film and screenplay and they act like Andrea Riseborough stole their only chance to be nominated at anything.(I don't remember Viola Davis or Danielle Deadwyler being this publicly whiny last year? Or anyone else for that matter.)

I mean this is what the producers of Past Lives (which got snubbed in Best Actress and Director) posted:

“We are so honored that The Academy recognized Past Lives, the bold and original first film of Celine Song, an important new voice in filmmaking. This nomination validates the hard work of many crafts people and artists in New York, our home, and Seoul. We are grateful to our partners at A24 in their continued support of courageous filmmaking teams.”

The fact that neither Gerwig, Baumbach nor Robbie managed to make a PR statement about their nominations (and didn't stop Gosling and Ferrera whining on their behalf) is bad but if they skip the ceremony altogether then they are actively burning ( ... )

I agree, Margot and Greta still have nominations too this year for Barbie so for them to say nothing is so tacky to me. And again, like they were never frontrunners for these awards.

I imagine Margot was snubbed because she was ranked 5/6 on ballots, and when people feel really strongly about certain roles they put them 1 increase likelihood of a nom. I could see a lot of people putting Annette and Sandra high for that reason. I don’t think people feel that strongly re Margot’s performance.

the Margot snub is pretty surprising, but pundits and experts have said all season long that Gerwig in director is not a sure thing bc this is a very competitive field this year and they don't really go for that kind of movie anyway

we should all be glad Payne did not make it in, that discourse would have been extra awful

right? the discourse is already bad, i can't imagine how awful it would be if payne got in instead

if payne had gotten in instead of triet.... the discourse would be even more horrendous

Past Lives was truly snubbed (and Andrew Scott).
I just hope Celine and Greta get a lot more opportunities to do what they want.

I wish America had just celebrated her nom and not made any statements about her bosses.
Ryan was put in a pretty terrible position though and I understand why he said something. People were literally using his nomination to fuel their misguided fire. If he hadn’t said anything he would have been skewered more than he already was.

Idk it sucks to me that fans of Barbie pretty much took the joy out of getting nominated from those two cast members.

I think they’re all going, even Will Ferrell.
