Too bad the judges don't actively criticize and judge anymore.

The early seasons were SO SO good and had a good balance of actual criticisms to help the dancer improve and praise at the good dances. Now they don't even tell dancers to stop pulling faces when they dance and it's always incredibly distracting.

I truly miss the first 5 or so seasons. When they moved to the new stage, something was lost

Those stairs created absolutely magical dances.

The Ramalama Bang Bang zombie dance in season 2 is perfection. Also absolutely loved the Lauren & Neil devil dance on those stairs.

I also would get irrationally mad when a judge in later seasons would say some sub-bar dance was the best dance they've ever seen on the show. You're lying. It's incredibly hard to top the park bench dance, the bed dance, and even the addiction dance. Hell, the father/daughter one with Neil and Lacey that basically made everybody sob because it was about losing a father. There's also the statue dance with Melanie and Marko that was just gorgeous.

I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS ABOUT THE OLD SEASONS.

Yes, the first seasons were great. I hated the later ones, because of the annoying whooping and cheering by the overexcited audience during the dramatic/emptional performances. Instruct your audience or tune them out during the performance. Also get some judges that have years of performing dance at a high level themselves. And no all-stars. And no over extended tilts. And do they still do the emotional backstories? No to them too. Also, bring back Wade Robson.

Roisin Murphy really had some good exposure then. It's literally how I discovered her. I loved when they used artists I had never heard of. Now most of the time, the music is whatever.
The audience not shutting the fuck up has always pissed me off. I actually stopped watching after season 16. They got rid of Vegas week and just babied the hell out of the auditions.
