Unfortunately, social media amplifies the young edge lords and other people just share it uncritically. Plenty of other people have criticized American imperialism and foreign policy who AREN'T homophobic, misogynistic anti-Semites.
But being a provocative edge lord by quoting Osama bin Laden vs any of those other people will get you the views and social media engagement so that's what people are doing.
Which is a lot to say... yeah IA with your comment. The social media/online environment is WILD rn.

Everyone, PLEASE, use some critical thinking. Take time to look into claims and imagery before sharing.
Misinformation and disinformation is easy to fall for, especially when it confirms our worldview. But like... please. Do better than QAnon. Don't believe something just because it aligns with your point of view. Make sure it's true first.

Criticizing Israel is NOT anti-Semitism. Because... you know... you should be able to criticism any government bombing civilians and killing thousands of them.
But some people are definitely using criticism of Israel as a smoke screen for their anti-Semitism and it's important that people look at voices they are amplifying and check to see which category the person they're amplifying falls into.

Also this isn't a zero sum game. You can be horrified by the October attacks AND outraged and horrified at the Israeli decimation of Gaza. Many pro-Palestine activists manage both!
I think that sort of binary "There can only be ONE bad person" leads to this sort of thinking and it's fucking dangerous because you're looking for confirmation to deny the humanity of a group of people.

A new book called Manhunt by transgender author Gretchen Felker-Martin features J.K. Rowling, author of the popular Harry Potter series in its pages, and it is stirring up controversy. While Rowling is not a character in the book, there are several references to her.
The novel is generating controversy for a scene in which Rowling is killed off during a fire at a Scottish castle in a story a character is telling around a campfire.

I've also posted news in support of pro-Palestine demonstrations here, as have others. You're welcome to do the same.
