lYoung people have loved being edge lords since time immemorial.

Unfortunately, social media amplifies the young edge lords and other people just share it uncritically. Plenty of other people have criticized American imperialism and foreign policy who AREN'T homophobic, misogynistic anti-Semites.

But being a provocative edge lord by quoting Osama bin Laden vs any of those other people will get you the views and social media engagement so that's what people are doing.

Which is a lot to say... yeah IA with your comment. The social media/online environment is WILD rn.

I was referring to the Youths on Tiktok and the bin Laden letter stuff, not the author in this post.

I saw people being like "Gen Z just doesn't get September 11th" and I was like maybe, but Gretchen is certainly old enough to remember.

I mean truly the reactions to the attacks shaped a bunch of American leftists and pushed them to be anti-war and hyper critical of their government but I have literally never seen anyone but terrorists be like "Yeah, the attacks were good actually!"

A British journalist recently wrote that the Nazis were better than Hamas because 'at least the Nazi's felt bad'.

I almost threw my laptop out the window.

He said they drank heavily to forget the terrible things they had to do and they were young and directionless or something.

He doubled down on it too, it was fucking wild.

I cannot BELIEVE the Jewish Chronicle is publishing Douglas Murray arguing 'at least the Nazis felt bad'. pic.twitter.com/VuYwtpprXq
