Idk what your country’s laws are but in the US a contract that breaks the law is automatically unbinding and can be challenged even if you sign.

It’s more like „the landlord cannot forbid you to have a dog“ in Berlin but if you get 50 applications, you are gonna pick someone without a dog or „you have to buy my overpriced used furniture“ - ok you don’t want to buy them? „Oh sorry, the apartment is already taken“

I see what you mean. That sucks and landlords are so shady. The state I’m in at least has tenant laws that say if a landlord loses their case they automatically pay the tenant’s legal fees so it’s easy to get good tenant lawyers here.
