Of this week's releases, I've already seen The Royal Hotel (pretty good, recommend) and Foe (terrible, do NOT recommend!! in fact, pretend it doesn't exist).

Definitely interested in seeing Dicks: The Musical ASAP. I was gonna go Saturday, but with the Phillies playoff game, I might have to reschedule. I also want to watch Totally Killer at some point, it looks fun!

Looking forward to seeing All of Us Strangers on Friday, I cannot fucking wait.

Also booked out my AFI Fest schedule. I've got 13 films on the agenda so far, and I am still waiting for them to announce what films Greta Gerwig is programming as the guest artistic director!!

Yeah, sorry to say, but it is easily the worst movie I've seen this year. I'll c/p my Letterboxd review - it's not spoilery, but long so I will stick it under a cut.

[Spoiler (click to open)]I truly do not know where to begin... what the hell happened here?!? Two of the most talented young actors I can think of in a movie I've been looking forward to since it was announced, and I can't imagine I'll ever watch again or recommend it to a single person... )

My God, I can't believe this. I mean, a movie can easily be bad, but bad at this level is almost an achievement given that it has such good actors as protagonists. What a shame :(

i feel like saoirse has some big highs in her filmography but also some notorious lows. i'm hoping blitz will be good

Yikes, this is too bad. I've been seeing nothing but bad reviews about it

agree with everything. this movie would make you think Paul is a bad actor

Sad, but true. And this is maybe the least of its problems, but idk why the fuck couldn't have just set it in Ireland?! The movie would have still had a million issues, obviously, but Paul and Sirsh would not have had to fuck around with struggle American accents. Least convincing Midwesterners on the planet, lol.

lol the American setting was so unnecessary. first of all, it's obvious that the movie was filmed in Australia and its take on the Midwest was completely half-assed and irrelevant to the plot. I couldn't make sense of Aaron Pierre using his English accent but Paul and Saoirse attempting American ones.

nooooo I'm so sad about Foe. Should I just skip it and just go for Dicks The Musical instead? (I gotta see something Sunday afternoon, no point going home between my two NYFF screenings lol) I'm using A-List, so it's not like I'm wasting $$$, but would you say it's not even worth it for the FOMO?

I haven't seen D:TM yet, so I can't say for sure, but I could not in good conscience recommend Foe to anyone. Paul is naked a lot, so it has that going for it, but that's basically it and I wish I was joking. Maybe watch it (on drugs, preferably) when it's streaming in a couple months? lol

lol, OK, you've convinced me. I appreciate the PSA. 😄

I’m so sad that Foe is apparently a very subpar Black Mirror episode. My bf loved the book and was looking forward to the movie. Ah well.

So sad to hear about Foe, I'm currently reading the book and enjoying it a lot, and the atmosphere of the trailer looked so on point :(
