Why is "Cleopatra in space" such a popular concept lol I get it bc it seems kind of cool and people are too lazy to research other Egyptian rulers in her stead.
Is there a popular property that uses a mummy that isn't named Cleo?
I remember there was an animated show about Tut and I'm 90% sure the modern day girl was called Cleo lol the closest thing I can imagine is maybe the Bartimaeus Trilogy that did have a Ptolemy in a significant role.
I remember that cartoon! I think, anyways. It used to play on the same syndicated Saturday morning block as Jackie Chan Adventures and Yu-Gi-Oh and you know what? I loved it.
I was trying to find some show that may be Canadian about some teenage girl that brings an Egyptian Pharoah to modern day and he enrolls in her school I think from either the 90s or early 00s and I can't find it at all. I think that was based on Tut
Edit: Nope, found it, it's called I Love Mummy
The show centred on the Barnes family, who moved into their recently deceased great aunt Agnes' house. In the attic they came across a sarcophagus that opened up to reveal a 5,000-year-old demi-god, Prince Nuffratuti of Abu Simbel, Elyes Gabel, who is unable to ascend to the afterlife until he has completed his scroll of tasks.
I will say there are lots of other mummies in popular tv/movies - some real rulers/priests, lots of fake ones.
The Mummy series (30s and 90s versions) - Imhotep (real) The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb series - Ra-Antef, son of Ramesses VIII (RVIII is real, son is fictional to my knowledge) Night at the Museum - Akhmenrah (fictional) Under Wraps - Harold (fictional lol) Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School - Tanis (fictional) Hotel Transylvania - unnamed mummy but not Cleopatra for sure (boy mummy) The Monster Squad - unnamed mummy but also not Cleopatra (boy mummy)
Bonus: Buffy - Incan Mummy (we never find find out her name in the show but she's based on the real Momia Juanita)
I apparently love mummies because I love all these movies/shows lol.
