as soon as the hosts had those sombreros on in the intro of the ep i was like…who approved of this shit and thought they wouldn’t get complaints???

lol it did amuse me that brits get on americans for being ignorant af but then pull stunts like this. where do you think those american tendencies came from

In the early days of the show back with Mel and Sue they’d have international challenges (I don’t think they had full weeks originally), but they were SO much better. The hosts actually travelled abroad to the countries and spoke with local artisan bakers and it was interesting and informative and not racist AF.

Honestly surprised Channel 4 let it go in this direction as they’re normally leaders in inclusivity compared with other networks in the U.K.

Yea it's important to note how far Bake Off has fallen. It was going to be bad as soon as they hired someone like Matt Lucas and had no one to keep Noel in line.

one of my favorite gbbo moments was with Chetna in S5, during the advanced dough week. Iirc, she said she looked up recipes with enriched dough and found this one for povitica/potica/walnut roll, which she made for her signature dish and when they announced the technical challenge, it was exactly that roll they had to do.

It always makes me think of that old timey PSA where the dad catches his son smoking like "who taught you to do this??" And the son is like I LEARNED IT BY WATCHING YOU
