IA but also, i bet there is significant overlap between 1) child stars and 2) children with horrible parents who do not have their best interest at heart. In which case, the kids maybe wouldn't fare well even without show business, it's just that none of us would ever know their story.

that's because parent who care about their children do not want them to be famous at all cost, and still even with good parent they still get exposed to a terrible environment (see Mara Wilson, who had pretty good parents and still was asked by a journalist about Hugh Grant's arrest for soliciting a prostitute)

i can only think of saoirse ronan and like the hp kids (the main cast). they seem to be doing well.
but like you're right. so many of these kids have parents who aren't looking out for their children's wellbeing, only to squeeze them dry.
