Step It Up and Dance was a really good reality dance competition. The dancers worked with professional choreographers and learned routines from real projects (I definitely remember they learned Shoeless Joe from Damn Yankees and Umbrella by Rihanna) so they were basically doing industry auditions every week and getting feedback from the people who would hire them for these jobs.

And the great thing is that several of them continued to work as dancers after the show.

Cody had already done Movin' Out and Grease on Broadway (in a hilarious coincidence, this was the Grease revival that starred Laura Osnes and Max Crumm from a different reality show which was a competition to cast the leads in the show). Afterward he starred as Riff in the Broadway revival of West Side Story and he was also in Come Fly Away on Broadway and on tour. He's danced on tv shows and movies like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Once Upon a Time, True Blood, Across the Universe, and one of the Center Stage sequels.

Nick has worked steadily since the show and is STILL working as a dancer! He's danced on a zillion different shows including The Afterparty, Welcome to Chippendales, Fuller House, Hart of Dixie, Glee, Wizards of Waverly Place, and How I Met Your Mother. He's also been in several music videos (Helena - My Chemical Romance, These Boots Are Made for Walkin' - Jessica Simpson, I Love Me - Demi Lovato) and movies (most notably La La Land).

Someone used to have all the episodes posted on YouTube so you might be able to watch the season that way!

There are several different competition shows in the UK to cast the leads in West End musicals (The Sound of Music, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver, The Wizard of Oz). In the United States, there was only one season where they cast a Danny and Sandy for a revival of Grease. They didn't necessarily teach them how to be stars but they did have them do challenges in acting, dancing, and singing. Several of the Grease contestants went on to have successful Broadway careers (Laura Osnes, Ashley Spencer, Kate Rockwell). It was basically a month long televised audition ( ... )
