I don't see Amy's failed casting as dodging a bullet as I'm sure it'd have been a vastly different film with her. One of main reasons this movie is being so hyped up is bc they have a Barbie general audiences can root for bc general audiences don't support an ugly duckling. They only support the She's all that version of an ugly duckling, which Amy isn't. A Barbie universe where she'd have been the conventionally attractive version of the doll just wouldn't make sense (and I don't mean this as shade, just as a more objective POV).
